I am a Professor of Child Health and Paediatric Nephrology at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi-Ghana.
My clinical expertise is in three (3) areas: 1) Paediatric nephrology 2) Paediatric HIV 3) Nutrition and Malnutritional disorders in children
I established the paediatric nephrology unit, the pediatric HIV clinic and the malnutrition unit in my institution.
In terms of service, I have established comprehensive acute peritoneal dialysis programme in Ghana since 2012 and have carried out nationwide training of district doctors (non-nephrologists) in the performance of acute peritoneal dialysis in emergencies. To date, my center has performed over 300 peritoneal dialysis for AKI with close to 70% survival rate.
I have been involved in various capacities in several research into malaria, kidney diseases, HIV & TB, and childhood malnutrition.
I to the first ever ISPD guidelines for peritoneal dialysis in acute kidney injury: 2020 Update (paediatrics).
I am a member of the H3Africa Research Consortium.
Currently, I am the Kumasi site Principal Investigator for the Amplitude Clinical Trial of Inaxaplin on APOL 1-mediated Proteinuric Kidney Disease in Adults and Paediatrics.
