Prof. Reena Rachel George holds a PhD and Master’s degree in Medical–Surgical Nursing and currently serves as Professor of Nursing at the College of Nursing, Christian Medical College Vellore, Tamil Nadu, South India.

Alongside teaching, she has over two decades of leadership experience in Nephrology Nursing, having served as Nurse Manager (2004–2021) and currently as Head of the Department of Nephrology Nursing (since 2021). She has extensive clinical expertise in haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and kidney transplantation. The institution runs a well-established Haemodialysis Unit with approximately 200 dialysis sessions per day and a Peritoneal Dialysis program supporting over 150 active patients. She has been instrumental in establishing standards, protocols, and evidence-based practices across these services.

Her research focus is on dialysis and vascular access care and has published 12 research articles in peer-reviewed journals. Her PhD was a randomized controlled trial evaluating the cost-effectiveness of a modified Central Venous Catheter care protocol, which led to a significant change in unit practice. She is also the member of Institutional Research Review Board and reviewer and advisory Board member on Indian Journal of Continuing Nursing education.

She is a member of the International Society of Nephrology, including its Kidney Health Professionals Working Group, and serves on the Southeast Asia Board of Nephrology. She has been an invited resource person at the World Congress of Nephrology and other national and international scientific forums.
