Dr. Shah is Associate Chief for Research, Nephrology Fellowship Program Director, and Medical Director for Peritoneal Dialysis in the Davita North-Providence program in the Division of Kidney Disease and Hypertension at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in the United States. He is an expert in home dialysis (both PD and HHD) and the intersection of planetary health and kidney disease, areas in which he is well published and has lectured both nationally and internationally. His research is supported by NIGMS, AHRQ, Advance-CTR, Brown Physicians Inc, Rhode Island Life Science Hub, and the SURDNA Foundation. He is also a decorated educator having received numerous teaching awards at Brown and is a past winner of the American Society of Nephrology’s innovations in kidney education contest. He is the lead editor of the 2025 text, Applied Home Hemodialysis, and serves as an associate editor for the Peritoneal Dialysis International. He serves on various committees of ISPD including as Chair of the Early Career Committee and the ISPD-NAC Policy Committee and as a member of the ISPD 2026 Congress planning committee.
