Dr. Anjali Bhatt Saxena, MD is Clinical Professor of Medicine at Stanford University and Director of Peritoneal Dialysis at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California, USA. Dr. Saxena has served as the Medical Director for a large independent Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) Clinic in San Jose, CA since 2004. She is a dedicated member of the faculty of the Stanford Nephrology Fellowship Program and has received several teaching awards. She has published book chapters in key Nephrology texts as well as manuscripts on peritoneal dialysis and renal pathophysiology in various peer-reviewed journals. She is also specifically dedicated to advancing PD and providing education in home dialysis, and as such has been a faculty member of the Home Dialysis University (HDU) since 2007, providing home dialysis education to hundreds of US Nephrologists, Nephrology fellows, and Advanced Practice Practitioners. She joined the HDU Board of Directors in 2021 and became associate Director of Home Dialysis University in 2024. In 2023 she joined the ASN Home Dialysis Steering Committee. 

She is active on an international stage, having delivered numerous invited lectures at meetings such as ASN-Kidney Week, the Annual Dialysis Conference, and ISPD conferences, and the 2024 ISPD Congress in Dubai. Dr. Saxena is dedicated to the growth and support of PD worldwide; she was the Treasurer for the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) from 2018 – 2024, and is a Past-President of the North American Chapter of the ISPD.. She is an Educational Ambassador for the International Society of Nephrology (ISN), and together with her Stanford colleagues has developed a sister-Renal Center program that has grown and supported the growth of a PD program in a low income area of Sri Lanka. She is a founding member of the Steering Committee of the International Home Dialysis Consortium (IHDC), a joint workgroup between ISN and ISPD dedicated to increase access to home dialysis, both peritoneal dialysis (PD) and home haemodialysis (HHD) globally in both high- and lower-income countries.
